Originally established in October 1903 as Tongluowan Station (銅鑼灣驛) on the Japanese colonial era Mountain Line (山線). It was renamed Tongluo, along with the town, in October 1920. Its wooden station house was destroyed in the 1935 Hsinchu-Taichung Earthquake. Construction on the replacement began that October and was completed in April 1936; this building survives as one of several reinforced concrete stations dating back to the colonial period still in daily use.
