Qidu Station (七堵車站) traces its history back to the 1891 when a station was built in this vicinity under Qing administration. Under Japanese colonial rule the railway network was vastly expanded and this important transfer point was expanded and modernized, leading to the construction of this wooden station house in 1912. It was in continuous operation until 2007 when it was finally abolished, dismantled, and reassembled in its current location in Qidu Railway Memorial Park (七堵鐵道紀念公園). The building exemplifies the Japanese architectural style common in Taiwan’s colonial era railway stations, with its distinctive wooden construction and sloped roof design.
