Completed around 1927, this official residence was allocated to the chief of Datun District in what is now West District, Taichung. Datun District was dissolved in 1950 and the building was occupied by Dai Kunming (戴坤明), the director of the Taichung County Construction Bureau, until he was notified to relocate in 1997. It was registered as a heritage property in 2013 and restored in the late 2010s. It now operates as an art gallery, Ippuku.
