A company house built by the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai (大日本武德會), the martial arts organization, which acquired land in Beimen District (北門郡) under the name of Butoku Kabushiki Kaisha (武德株式會社) and invested in the salt fields along the coast of what is now Tainan. The interior preserves a full complement of Japanese domestic features, among them a formal reception room, study alcove, sliding panels, and shutter boxes, with a square loop of corridor connecting the rooms and facing the garden. Police took it over after the war and used it as the residence of the station chief. It was registered as a historic building in 2021. The surrounding neighborhood was also home to a number of other Japanese-style residences, none so well-preserved as this one. Perhaps due to its recent heritage designation it is sometimes misidentified as the Beimen District Chief Residence (北門郡郡守官舍).
