Completed in 1936, this was a multi-functional social welfare facility offering vocational education and health services to the urban poor of Taichung in the Japanese colonial era. In the post-war era it became an orphanage. The original building was demolished long ago but the Ministry of Health and Welfare continues to operate a facility on this site.
