Completed around 1927, this official residence was allocated to the chief of Datun District. In the post-war era the district was dissolved in 1950 and the building was soon occupied by Dai Kunming (戴坤明), the director of the Taichung County Construction Bureau, until he was notified to relocate in 1997. Registered as a heritage property in 2013. After restoration it now operates as an art gallery, Ippuku 林森40.
