Yǒng’ān (永安) is a small coastal district in northwestern Kaohsiung with a history of salt production dating back to the Japanese era, centered around the Wushulin Saltworks (烏樹林鹽場). After salt production ended in the 1980s the area shifted toward aquaculture and energy production. Yantian Village (鹽田彩繪村) preserves the memory of the district’s salt-making past.
