Dàliáo (大寮) is a suburban district in southeastern Kaohsiung, bordering Pingtung County across the Gaoping River (高屏溪). It was once the most populous rural township in all Taiwan. The district has a notable concentration of military dependents’ villages (眷村) from the martial law era, and its brick kilns speak to the area’s industrial past.
