Shānlín (杉林), formerly known as Nánzǐxiān (楠梓仙), is a rural district in the foothills of northeastern Kaohsiung with a majority Hakka population. After Typhoon Morakot in 2009, the district became the site of Da’ai Village (大愛村), a large permanent resettlement community built by the Tzu Chi Foundation for Indigenous and other people displaced from the mountains.
