三峽

Sanxia

Sānxiá (三峽) is a historic district in southwestern New Taipei at the confluence of three rivers. The Sanxia Old Street features one of the finest stretches of Japanese colonial era shophouses in northern Taiwan, while the adjacent Zushi Temple, established in 1767, incorporates marble columns salvaged from the original torii at the former Taiwan Shrine. The hills south of town were once dotted with coal mines, several of which have left behind accessible ruins.
