Lúzhōu (蘆洲) is the second smallest district in New Taipei yet ranks among the most densely populated areas in Taiwan. The name derives from the reeds that once covered this low-lying alluvial land along the Tamsui River. Despite intense urbanization, the district preserves several examples of its agrarian roots: the Li Family Residence, a sanheyuan completed in 1903 and elevated to national monument status in 2018; Baohe Temple, dedicated to Emperor Baosheng (保生大帝), the God of Medicine; and the Yonglian Temple, which hosts a tri-annual festival honoring Koxinga.
