Sanxia Haishan No. 1 Coal Mine (海山一坑煤礦) - Spectral Codex

A former coal mine in Sanxia originally registered as Hongming Coal Mine (宏明煤礦), renamed Tianfu Coal Mine (天富煤礦) in 1955, and operated by provincial assemblyman Lan Maosong (藍茂松) before ownership passed to Chen Tianci (陳天賜) and Huang Zhongchen (黃忠臣) in 1960. Heavy machinery boosted output to over 50,000 tonnes annually by the late 1970s. On December 5, 1984, an explosion in the deepest tunnel killed 93 miners; Zhou Zonglu (周宗魯) was the sole survivor, rescued after 96 hours underground. This was one of the three major coal mine disasters of 1984 in Taiwan (臺灣煤礦73年三大災變). The mine briefly reopened in 1985 but closed permanently in 1988, unable to compete with imported coal. The land was later sold to Xingtian Temple (行天宮) and redeveloped in 2016 as Hengxi Enzhugong Nursing Home (橫溪恩主公護理之家), with all major facilities demolished.
