Completed in 1932 as the lecture hall (講堂) of Hsinchu Middle School to mark the school’s tenth anniversary, this building served as an assembly hall for decades before its conversion into a school history museum (校史館) in 1985. Most recently renovated for the school’s centennial in 2022, it now operates as History Museum National Hsinchu Senior High School (新竹高中校史館). The museum houses a hōanko (奉安庫), a metal safe once used to store imperial portraits and the Imperial Rescript on Education, one of few such artifacts on public display in Taiwan.
