Located on the north side of Hsinchu Park (新竹公園) and completed in 1936, this was originally an association hall (新竹州自治會館) where the prefecture lodged and entertained visiting royalty and senior officials of the Japanese colonial era. In the post-war era it was repurposed for various uses, including an office for US military advisors and later a military police barracks. Since 1995 it has been home to a museum celebrating the glass industry of Hsinchu.
