Built around 1915 as a duplex according to standard official dormitory plans, this is the only surviving structure of the Government-General’s Sericulture Institute (養蠶所), established in 1913 to raise silkworms and mulberry seedlings and instruct farmers in the trade. The institute’s post-war successor, the Sericulture Improvement Station, sold its Taipei grounds off as the city expanded and moved to Gongguan, Miaoli in 1977. Registered as a historic building in 2018, the dormitory is owned by National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and remains vacant into the mid-2020s.
