A strategic hilltop at the southern margins of Taipei Basin not far from the primary National Taiwan University campus. It is home to Huanmin New Village (煥民新村), a military dependents’ village for members of ROCAF, as well as a semi-legal shanty town assembled over many decades by families who were never allocated quarters of their own. In 2016 it was recognized as a cultural landscape by the city government, following protests against plans to clear the land for the neighbouring campus of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. In the early 2020s it was partially redeveloped for tourism, much like what was done with the nearby Treasure Hill.
