Erected in 1930, this is a Japanese colonial era monument commemorating the establishment of a public cemetery for impoverished families in southern Taipei. The inscription on the front features calligraphy by Hidekichi Masuda (增田秀吉), the mayor of Taipei from 1929 to 1931. It was originally located on the ridgeline east of Jingmei Sports Park. Designated as a municipal monument in 2008, it was relocated to Wenshan Forest Park for display.
