An office building completed in 1942, late in the Japanese colonial era, for the Hsinchu office of the Government-General’s Rice Bureau, which controlled the wartime rice trade. It has been occupied by successive grain administration agencies ever since and is still in use by the government. There are nine air raid shelters in the courtyard behind.
