Changhua Koxinga Temple

A temple venerating the pirate-king Koxinga and his efforts to open Taiwan to Han Chinese settlement, founded around an idol brought back from his ancestral temple in Nan’an, Fujian by members of the local Zheng lineage association in 1917. The present complex was built between 1928 and 1938, partly from elements salvaged from the demolished Baisha Academy (白沙書院) including pillars and stone column bases in the sanchuan hall. It has avoided major reconstruction over the years and was registered as a historic building in 2012.
