Kaiyuan Temple (開元殿) is located in Xikou, Chiayi, and claims to have the world’s largest statues of the pirate-king Koxinga (鄭成功) and his lieutenants Gan Hui (甘輝) and Zhang Wanli (張萬禮). The temple was originally established by a local branch of the Zheng (鄭) family in 1970 and continually expanded over subsequent decades. The huge statue of Koxinga was completed in 1995.
