Xikou

Xikou (溪口) is the smallest township in Chiayi County. It was previously named Shuangxikou (雙溪口), literally “twin river mouth”, after the confluence of the Huasing and Sandie rivers. The Prince Kitashirakawa monument, erected in the late 1930s to mark where the Japanese crown prince camped during the 1895 invasion, was dismantled after the war and its base later repurposed for an oyster-shell art installation.
