Changhua Nanyao Temple (彰化南瑤宮) - Spectral Codex

A historic Mazu temple just south of the old walled city of Changhua. It was founded in 1738 when incense was brought up from Beigang. It was historically known as the Outer Mazu (外媽祖) temple to distinguish it from the official temple inside the city walls. Most of what stands today dates to a layered reconstruction across the Japanese colonial era, with the older Guanyin Hall in blending eclectic Western and Japanese influences, an unusual combination for temples in Taiwan. It was recognized for its heritage value in 1988.
