A public market in central Yuanli, first established in 1907 during the Japanese colonial era. The surviving structures date to a 1934 reconstruction in red brick, which then suffered damage in the 1935 Hsinchu-Taichung earthquake. A fire gutted the main hall and annex in 2018, and the complex has been under restoration since, with official heritage status designated in 2019.
