Beidou

Běidǒu (北斗) is a historic town and former river port in southern Changhua. In the late Qing dynasty era it traded with China via Lukang, but silting of the river channel led to economic decline. Nowadays Beidou is known for its well-preserved Japanese colonial architecture, including a red-brick market and office of community policing; the post-war Yuandong Theater; the historic Dian-An Temple; and its status as the culinary birthplace of bah-oân (肉圓), a popular Taiwanese snack.
