A high-rise hotel on Daren Road (大仁路), among the most prestigious areas in Yancheng during Kaohsiung’s heyday as a leading Asian port. It opened around the 1960s, and its top-floor Hangong Restaurant (漢宮餐廳) staged foreign cabaret acts; a young Jackie Chan (成龍) and Sammo Hung (洪金寶) reportedly performed there. A fire around 1980 gutted the building, which then sat derelict for some four decades, redevelopment stalled by a tangled ownership structure, its empty corridors feeding a Kaohsiung urban legend. Scaffolding went up in the mid-2020s for a long-delayed renovation.
