Built in 1960 on the site left vacant after Kaohsiung Hall (高雄館) was destroyed by Allied bombing during World War 2. Dongzhou Theater was a towering commercial complex that also housed a department store. During the golden age of cinema it was considered one of the three major theaters of Yancheng.
