Chengzhongcheng Building

A dilapidated mixed-use building with several abandoned floors and an old cinema by the name of Guogong Theater (國宮戲院). In its heyday the basement housed a skating rink, while the mid-levels featured the theater alongside a KTV and dance hall. By the late 2010s only a handful of ground-floor shops remained open and the second through sixth floors were sealed off, though residents remained on the upper levels, often stuck due to an inability to sell units in this rundown building. Plans for urban renewal stalled on fragmented ownership and disinterested landlords. Dozens of people died in a fire in the early 2020s and the building was soon demolished.
