Tang Gao Monument

A memorial to Tang Gao (唐高, 1929–1976), born Tang Lifa (唐立法), a soldier from Jiangsu province in China who perished on the western trunk line near Xiangshan while saving an infant left on the tracks. On January 4th, 1976, while on duty, he came upon a baby abandoned in the path of a southbound train, threw the child clear into the grass beside the line, and was struck in the head by the train and killed. A bronze statue by Pu Haoming (蒲浩明) was erected beside the railway in 1977, and he was enshrined in the National Martyrs’ Shrine in 2010.
