Two ROCAF military dependents’ villages of around 150 households established in former Japanese military barracks off Yanping Road (延平路) in Hsinchu, an area residents knew as Bingying (兵營), literally “barracks”. Both have since been demolished and the land given over to a park, parking, and apartment blocks.

  • Air Force No. 15 Village (空軍十五村)—Vanished (已消失)

Established in November 1948 for 85 households of the 8th Group, the first air force families to settle in the former Japanese barracks. Brick and tile homes replaced the barracks after typhoons in 1961 and 1963; the land is now Beixin Park (北新公園) and a parking lot.

  • Air Force No. 16 Village (空軍十六村)—Vanished (已消失)

Barracks first occupied by 20th Group airlift personnel, taken over in 1953 by 69 households of the 2nd Wing. The site was later rezoned for commercial use and built over with apartment blocks.
