A former station on the Taitung Line (臺東線), opened in 1916 as Hatsune (初音停車場), in what is now Jian, Hualien. It was renamed more than once, becoming Nanhua (南華車站) in 1957 and finally Gancheng in 1989, named after the village it served. Dwindling passenger numbers led to its closure in 1994. The surviving marble-faced station building, which dates to around 1990, is now used by a local community association and railway maintenance crews.

Marble cladding is one of the distinctive features of railway stations in eastern Taiwan.
