Eccentric Architecture in Taiwan

This section gathers buildings in Taiwan considered strange or unusual by the public: homes built by hand over decades, the private fantasies of the wealthy, and businesses dressed up as castles and pirate ships. The popular press calls many of these strange houses (怪怪屋), a genre that includes Longtan Yeshan Building and Dajia Stone House. Some of the strangest are temples, the result of common people pursuing their dreams, as at Cide Temple and Changhua Shell Temple. Striking buildings by professional architects are gathered under contemporary architecture.
