A Ming-Zheng era temple named for the waves that once churned sand (沙淘) along the nearby shoreline. The temple’s primary deity, Shātáo Tàizǐ (沙淘太子), is officially identified as Mùzhā (木吒), widely known from his appearance in Journey to the West (西遊記). Some scholars believe the name was a stand-in for Zhèng Kèzǎng (鄭克臧), Koxinga’s grandson, who was murdered during the Dongning Incident. It underwent a complete overhaul in the mid-2010s.
