Established in the Japanese colonial era as Ebisu-kan (戎館). A wooden theater existed on this site as early as 1912, but the current design, sometimes known as Shin-ebisu-kan (新戎館), was completed in 1935. It was renamed Chihkan Theater (赤崁大戲院) after the war and continued operating until 1961, when it was converted for use as a retail shop. It has long been an outpost of Black Bridge Sausages (黑橋牌香腸門市). Renovated in 2021 with a small museum to the building’s history on the upper floor; the nameplate now reads Yebisu Kan.
