Established in 1739, this temple was an important place of worship for merchants and sailors, and is regarded as one of the seven temples and eight shrines (七寺八廟) of historic Tainan. It was demolished during urban renewal efforts in 1918 and rebuilt by the local gentry in 1924. Today it stands as the only temple in Tainan dedicated to the God of Wind. The outer altar features a plaque inscribed by Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文).
