Established as early as 1662 by members of the public, this temple is recognized as the founding temple for the veneration of Guangong (關公) in Taiwan. It is commonly referred to as the Minor Guandi Temple (小關帝廟) as it is overshadowed by the official Tainan Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple (臺南祀典武廟).
