Established in 1911 as Dai-butai (大舞臺) or Kokufū-gekijō (國風劇場). It was destroyed during allied bombing runs in World War 2. The theater was rebuilt after the war, renamed, and hosted traditional performances and concerts before switching to screening films at some point. The current structure is apparently the heavily modified post-war structure, having undergone numerous changes over the decades. It was a wedding planning business for a time, but this closed around 2015 and the building has been stripped down to the base concrete and left exposed to the elements since then.
