Minxiong (民雄), located on the Chianan Plain just north of Chiayi City is the most populous township in Chiayi County. The slightly acidic red soil produces some of Taiwan’s finest pineapples, earning the township its reputation as “the home of pineapples”. It is also famous for goose meat. Minxiong is perhaps most known for the Liu Family Mansion, one of Taiwan’s most notorious haunted houses, and is also home to Minxiong Broadcasting Station, now the National Radio Museum.
