Taibao (太保) is a county-administered city in Chiayi County and serves as the seat of the county government. The Chiayi HSR station and the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum (2015) are both located here, the latter focusing on pan-Asian art in contrast to the northern branch’s Chinese collections. The city is also home to Shuiniucuo Temple, an unusual temple venerating water buffalo famously visited by former president Chiang Ching-kuo.
