Meishan (梅山) is a mountain township in northeastern Chiayi County. Tea cultivation in Chiayi originated here with trial plantings in 1980, and the township remains one of four producing Alishan high-mountain tea. The village of Rueili (瑞里) in the mountains is known for bamboo groves, tea plantations, and plum blossoms in winter.
