Officially known as Shanziding Sugar Factory (山仔頂製糖所), this was the first modern sugar factory established by Taiwanese investors, founded in 1905 by Chen Zhonghe and partners under the auspices of the Xinxing Sugar Manufacturing Company in Daliao, Kaohsiung. It was absorbed into Taiwan Sugar Manufacturing Co. in 1941 and severely damaged by US bombing in 1945, after which its equipment was transferred to nearby Xiaogang Sugar Factory and the plant was permanently closed. The site is now occupied by Daliao 88 Night Market (大寮88夜市). A red brick warehouse on the south side of the market is the only remaining original structure.
