Fēnyuán (芬園) is the only township in Changhua located on the eastern flank of the Baguashan Mountain Range, making it geographically isolated from the rest of the county and more closely connected to neighboring Caotun in neighboring Nantou. Named for its long history of tobacco cultivation, the township is now known for its “three treasures” (芬園三寶): pineapples, lychees, and rice noodles. Notable heritage sites include Baozang Temple (1672), one of central Taiwan’s most esteemed religious sites; the Village Office (1935), a rare surviving Japanese colonial government building; and Yumei Hall (1928), an elegant Western-style mansion with an adjacent ancestral shrine.
