二水

Ershui

Èrshuǐ (二水) is a rural township in the southeastern corner of Changhua along the border with Nantou and Yunlin. The name derives from two historic irrigation canals that channeled water from the Zhuoshui River to irrigate the Changhua Plain. The township’s fortunes were boosted by the opening of Ershui Station in 1905, which became a critical junction between the Western Line and Jiji Line, and the construction of a pineapple canning plant in 1932. Today the township has approximately 14,000 residents and retains notable Japanese colonial architecture, including Ershui Public Hall (1930), one of only three remaining assembly halls in Changhua.
