A traditional sanheyuan or courtyard house in Dingshan (頂山), a coastal village in Qigu, Tainan, largely populated by members of the Chen family. It was built by Chen Ji (陳集), reputedly the wealthiest man in the village after making a fortune raising milkfish during the Japanese colonial era, prior to the conversion of the nearby fish farms into salt fields. The west-facing compound blends traditional form with neo-Baroque elements and stonewashed gables bearing the family hall name, Yingchuan (穎川).
