A coal mine at the end of Dongxin Street (東新街) in Qidu, Keelung, about 1.6 km south of Qidu Station. Although coal was known here under Japanese rule, the site was not seriously worked until 1948, after which it grew into one of the largest mines in the Keelung area, yielding more than 2.3 million tonnes over four decades. Like most of Taiwan’s collieries, it closed in 1988 amid the mine disasters and industry decline of the mid-1980s. In the late 2010s it was among the most intact surviving mining complexes in Keelung; a sealed pit mouth, coal bunkers, and a communal bathhouse all remained at that time, though the most significant relic is a three-storey red-brick miners’ dormitory that once housed seventy-two households. No heritage status has been conferred.
