One of 35 villages built to resettle Dachen Islanders after their retreat to Taiwan in 1955. This particular village originally had 94 households and 261 residents, most of whom were engaged in small business and craft work, particularly bamboo weaving. Although it is now enmeshed in the city it was originally located in a rural area with fields all around. Not so many households remain, but recently there has been an uptick in boutique businesses offering a Dachen Islands cultural experience via private kitchens, for example.
