Established in 1920 when Pingtung was reorganized under Kaohsiung Prefecture and upgraded to Pingtung City Hall (屏東市役所) in 1933. After the war it became the Pingtung County Government until 1990 when it was demolished and replaced by the Pacific Department Store now on site.
