One of three surviving enclaves of Chongren New Village (崇仁新村) in Pingtung City, completed in 1929 as the second phase of officers’ quarters for the Japanese Army’s 8th Flight Regiment (日本陸軍飛行第八聯隊). Built near Wannian Stream and intended primarily for NCOs and lower-ranking officers, it was laid out as paired timber duplexes with black-tile rooftops. After 1945 the compound was taken over by the ROC Air Force and rebranded as the Tonghai sector of Chongren New Village. 12 buildings were registered as county historic buildings in 2017. As of the mid-2020s most residences in the community have been repurposed as small restaurants, gift shops, art studios, and the like.
