The remains of the village after depopulation.

A former staff dormitory complex for employees of the Hsinchu County tax administration in the East District of Hsinchu City. The county government was seated in Hsinchu City until the city separated from the county in 1982, which likely explains the location. Almost nothing about its history has been published. Residents appear to have moved out in the 2000s or early 2010s, and after a period of abandonment the buildings were demolished in 2020 to make way for a parking lot.

The gateway to the old community. The date of dedication is blurry but it might indicate 1961.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
