A small military dependents’ village established in 1949 for 37 households of Army University (陸軍大學) personnel on two plots along Renyi Street (仁義街) and Ren’ai Street Lane 50 (仁愛街50巷) in Hsinchu, where Japanese officials’ residences had been flattened by American bombing in World War 2. Residents held the right to live here but never ownership, and after rebuilding their termite-eaten homes in brick they were moved out; private builders redeveloped both plots as apartments after 2010.
