Established in Hsinchu City in 1949 for 74 households of the 8th Air Force Group (空軍第8大隊) on former Japanese military land still pitted with craters from American bombing in World War 2. Hardship in the early years drew many residents to missionaries handing out milk powder, flour, and tinned food. Most of the community was demolished in the late 2000s and early 2010s but some old houses remain in this area.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
